Women in tech and innovation in the MediterraneanINCLUSIVE & SHARING CITIES
Women tech-entrepreneurs are facing challenges in setting-up/running a business. There are still many barriers and little support and adapted schemes to develop the necessary technological skills and facilitate their entrance into the sector on an equal footing as men. According to OECD, women-run start-ups receive 23 per cent less loans from financial institutions than male-run businesses. The session will discuss about the main challenges faced by business women in tech and innovation sector, the policy measures needed to increase women’s participation and successful business models that can be transferred north-south-north including the lessons learned from successes and failures.
