The main goal of the session is to exchange on how metropolitan areas around the world face the process of energy transition towards a low-carbon society. In particular, the project focuses in 3 key aspects of energy transition in metropolitan areas:

- The increase of renewable energy (i.e., decentralized energy).

- The reduction of energy demand through energy efficiency.

- The new energy culture (i.e., energy democracy).

The session wil draw from concrete examples between Grand Lyon’s Climate and Energy Plan, Metropolitan Area of Barcelona Climate and Energy Plan, and the energy strategies of the metropolitan area of Montevideo.
